Yvonne was born at home at 93 Holmesdale Road, Teddington. She was the youngest daughter of Mary and Alfred Randall. She had 2 brothers; Peter and Michael. She also had a sister Maureen who died in early childhood, before Yvonne was born. Yvonne was christened in the Sacred Heart Church in Teddington. Yvonne went to the Sacred Heart Convent School in Teddington and then to St James’ in Twickenham. We think she liked school. She was good in athletics and joined a Sports Club. When Yvonne was abut 5 or 6 she got mumps, measles and Bronchial Pneumonia all at the same time, so she was put in an Isolation hospital in Isleworth. No one would be allowed in to see her so Michael would cycle to the hospital and read notice they put outside about all the people on the danger list. Yvonne did a Hairdressers apprenticeship in Richmond and worked as a hairdresser. She was a great fan of the singer Frankie Vaughan.
